Character
Name: Legolas
Canon: Tolkien
AU: Legolas spent over a year in the Tower of Animus, a great tower on another world where a single character from every world is taken when that world is killed. (Familiar characters being from another version of the world, like if someone wore a different colored shirt one day.) There he died multiple times, killed people, joined a ‘fellowship’ dedicated to unlocking the secrets of the tower in the hopes of reviving their dead worlds and vowed to protect Zelda.

Pull-point: On Arda- just before sailing | in the tower- seconds before his fifth death

Opt-out post link: Right here.

Age: about 500-600, somewhere around there. Appears about 20.

Gender/Sex: male

Appearance: Chin-length blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skinned. Legolas is tall, at least six feet-ish and has well-toned muscles. He holds himself pretty straight typically, on edge much of the time. He has several scars across his neck where his collar in the tower sat and where the tubes from it entered his neck. He also has scarring on his lower right arm where the tower carved “the cafeteria has lembas and dorwinion wine” for trying to change a rumor.

History:

Legolas was born 500-600 years before the War of the Ring in Mirkwood, son of king Thranduil. He was in Mirkwood when Thorin’s company passed through but not be any real presence in events until about 70 years later when Thranduil sent him to Rivendell to inform Elrond they had lost Gollum. There he joined the Fellowship and traveled with them to destroy the One Ring. After Gandalf fell in Moria, they shacked up in Lothlórien for a while, got some nifty presents, boats and then headed down the river. Along the way, Frodo and Sam bailed to go on their own, Merry and Pippin got captured and they ended up with a Boromir-kabob.

So he went with Gimli and Aragorn to save them, met up with a now living Gandalf the White, headed to Rohan, saved the king and went to fight at Helm’s Deep. They won, moved on, traveled through the Paths of the Dead, got an undead army and took them in ships to Pelennor Fields to fight. He went with them after to fight at the Black Gate and saw the Dark tower fall.

He later witnessed Aragorn’s coronation and traveled with Gimli to Fangorn and the Glittering Caves. Legolas would stay in Middle Earth for many more years and, after Aragorn’s death, build a ship to sail West with Gimli.

TW: Physical and emotional trauma. long history here

• Arda died and Legolas was the only survivor of “his version” of the world and woke up in a mysterious tower with a green-fluid filled collar and a letter saying “Your world has been destroyed. I saved you. Let’s all be happy here.”
• Was killed by Ganondorf Dragmire within ten days because he looked like a certain Hylian hero. DEATH ONE.
• Woke the next morning with no sign of injury except bloodied clothes.
• Two months, a ‘contest’ in which the administrators took several people into pods to decide which administrator was the best.
• Legolas was assigned to Dax’s pod, the most humane of the administrators who worked behind the scenes to help save the residents.
• Dies (of grief because he inadvertently killed a girl) after the end of Infighting. DEATH TWO.
• Haldir later arrives and makes Legolas believe that maybe Arda still lives and that they’re actually prisoners (despite proof from Gandalf that the world was dead)
• At a party celebrating their freedom from the pods, Zelda discovers Legolas’ heritage.
• Giant space whale then crashes into the tower and explodes into a variety of giant versions of monsters already in the tower. Legolas assisted with evacuating residents to lower floors where it would be safe. Ended up with a broken leg.
• In August, Administrator Jason swaps the bodies of various residents. Legolas swaps with Gandalf. The more time spent in the wrong body, the more memories they started experience from the owner of the body and death would occur if they weren’t returned to their own in time. Gandalf was an ass and smoked pipeweed while in Legolas’ body.
• Administrator Dax leaks information on how to switch bodies back. Legolas and Gandalf very narrowly escape death.
• Nothing of interest happened in September.
• October was an Administrator Ruana month and she decided to celebrate. Characters were put in costumes and had to collect candy. Failure to collect within a certain time limit would have the costume constrict until the wearer was killed. Those killed would be resurrected as a twisted version of the costume. Legolas was dressed as the Elvenking.
• Haldir managed to keep Legolas from dying towards the end when almost no candy was available to find and residents had to resort to stealing from others.
• His prize was his costume.
• Following Halloween, a graveyard appeared in the tower with graves for every residents that had ever disappeared from the tower. Legolas found Gimli’s grave and, in denial, attempted to dig it up.
• November brings along Frodo and GASP! Another Legolas, both from a ship called Tranquility, again making Legolas question whether the worlds are really dead or not because clearly other realities exist.
• At the same time, Legolas prepares to sacrifice anything to the administrators to heal Haldir whose hands had been wounded nearly to the point of being unsaveable.
• In December, Legolas nearly lost his head to an Uruk-Hai. Started chopping his hair short after that for ease in combat.
• In January (2013), the minds of many residents were altered (by Administrator Riki) to believe that a different amount of time had passed for them in the tower than what really had. Legolas believed 1000 years had passed and had become more defensive and cynical in those “years.”
• In February, Administrator Ruana brought people from a world called Hinoto-Ri to the tower (game crossover event with Destiny Strings) none of which had collars. The tower had to be changed for it to be habitable for the Hinoto-Ri people.
• Residents and Hinoto-Ri’ans were involved in one of Ruana’s games. Legolas ended up falling into a deep sleep and trapped playing the game “Little Finger” in which players of the game had to find an old womans little fingers. Each round played started with one less finger available to find. Legolas never found a finger. DEATH THREE.
• Afterward, several groups descend into the administration levels. Legolas gets grouped with Sephiroth and Riku. They explore Riki’s room and hundreds of screens appear.
• Sephiroth punched a screen and the floor in Riki’s room disappeared from under them and the center of gravity kept shifting.
• Security lasers start passing through the room and Legolas can’t avoid them like Sephiroth and Riku can. His arm gets shredded nearly down to the bone in several places. He returns to the HUB and to the tower where he has Gandalf and Haldir kill him so he’ll wake up with a working arm the next day. DEATH FOUR.
• Administrator Dax is killed and eaten by Administrator Ruana to gain his powers. And because he was a “bad dog.” Dax's death jarred him because Dax was the one person working for rather than against them all and showed how easily the administrators could turn against each other. So it set a bit of a “Whoops, can’t trust ANY of them.” mindset into him.
• In April, Legolas was kidnapped by retrieval units, brainwashed and physically transformed to an orc (shaved head, spine bent as a painful angle, lower canines extended and jaw dislocated to accommodate the canines) with a chip implanted in his skull. He acted, from that point, as a retrieval unit and was dedicated to keeping residents behaving like the administrators would want them to.
• To keep discipline, drone!Legolas would resort to killing residents. Sometimes he malfunctioned and when he did, he fed on the despair of others and got stronger for it.
• His mental health did not recover after “Rebellion.” He felt weaker and less dependable for how he’d been manipulated. His determination to kill the administrators is strengthened though.
• May began the Rumor Has It event in which rumors written on the walls would come true when five people believed them. Legolas attempted to change one of the more vicious rumors to “the cafeteria has lembas and dorwinion wine” to protect residents. The words were then carved into his lower right arm for the attempt.
• The ‘fellowship’ in the tower is officially named Pandora. Zelda teaches Legolas to use Light Arrows.
• Glamour in the tower shut down in June, revealing that everyone was just a wireframe construction in the vague shape of their normal bodies and filled with the same colored fluid as what fills each persons collar. This is revealed to be their soul. Legolas’ soul is green.
• This same month brought new monsters to the tower, based on emotions. Legolas fought with a group to take down a pair and later ended up fighting the Laughing Monster alone. He was killed when it opened a portal from which ten weapons (spears, swords and axes) burst out and impaled him. DEATH FIVE.
• At the beginning of July, England got a special pair of glasses that showed the wearers soul as it should be.

Personality: Sometimes, brief flickers of the eternally cheerful Legolas slip through, joking and happy and unconcerned. He remains protective of those he cares about most but, after more than a year in the tower, he tends to be more reserved and distrusting, wary of strangers until they prove they can be trusted. Especially after Dax’s murder, Legolas realized that there really is no trusting the administrators who pretended to help them. His confidence suffers a great deal since his brief stint as a retrieval unit/orc and the brainwashing and pain conditioning he’d endured.

He still isn’t afraid to share his opinion though or to throw himself into situations that his skills could be useful during. While he doesn’t believe himself fully trustworthy anymore, he is loyal and dedicated to something he sets himself to.

Abilities:
- Immortal, cannot age or grow ill (can be poisoned though)
- Strong of body, elves are more resistant to hurt/can heal faster/mortal wounds aren’t as mortal
- No need for sleep, just gets rest by thinking of lovely things (can sleep though)
- Stronger senses, elves can hear and see things further away and with more clarity
- Lightfooted, can walk without making a sound or leaving footprints in the snow
- Weather resistant, not immune to weather but can deal with cold and heat better than other races
- Can talk to plants and animals
- Can ride a horse
- Can use a bow, sword and knife.
- Can use Light Arrows (ability gifted to him by Zelda.)

Inventory: 1 white knife, a rohirrim sword, a piece of lembas, lorien cloak, Mirkwood bow.

Anything else: He’s very broken. Poor leafling.
